In the wild, a tracker hunts down the best treasures and brings them back to their den. Tracker Mo does the same, braving the internet "wilds" and bringing back information about the best marketing etools available, as well as how best to use and optimize each one.
(Apart from a few gurus, no endangered species were injured in the creation of this site.)

First lesson in Marketing: Never rely on programmers. They'll get you everytime. With that under my belt, I am moving forward with new site plans-- It is still going to contain many exciting changes. And this time, I can keep my word, because it's backed by my own actions! LOL!
If you've noticed that I've removed several links, the reason is simple: I've also discovered that "widgets" are not all they're cracked up to be-- they slow the site load WAY down. uh-uh. So... if you want to follow my tweets, you'll just have to get a twitter account. Or, better still, I think I may just keep posting here, instead. ;-)

If the Den seems like it's been a little quiet lately, that's because a major site overhaul is in progress. This includes a much more inter-active and useful place for you, the visitor, as well as support and follow-up for the ebook, Tracker Mo's Bootcamp and-- oops! Can't say too much. It would spoil the surprise.
Tentative re-launch is set for Mid- to End- September, but there are several mini-launches planned by the end of August.

Moving On Two safelist have recently disappeared off the radar: Tutorials4Newbies, one of the best credit-based safelists, and MadVlad, one of the grandaddy's of safelists. Though owned separately, both of these departures remain unexplained.
A great marketing resource is the Net Marketing Forum where discussions of the latest in marketing can be found.
Firefox Update: As a web designer, using multiple browsers is a must. As a marketer, it just makes good sense.
Safelists
Safelist marketing was started by responsible marketers who wanted to find a way to email others without risking spam complaints. A safelist is like a club or group that a marketer joins. In doing so, each member agrees to receive emails from other members.
Until the recent development of credit-based mailings, safelists were not very effective. But now, as some safelists cleverly begin to incorporate this into their emails, their popularity is on the increase. Because this addition turns regular safelists into dynamic traffic generators and assure each member that their email will be read!! Now, similar to traffic exchanges (but a whole lot easier!), safelists are bouncing back, big time! Most also offer affiliate programs that pay YOU to bring in referrals/new sign ups.
Get separate email accounts (2) just for safelist marketing. You WILL get a LOT of email!
Make sure any auto-responder or vacation email options are turned OFF! (Otherwise, the systems will think their messages are bouncing)
Use special "marketer-friendly" email accounts. Many safelists ban email servers such as Yahoo! and AOL because they bounce too many emails
Plan to click-for-credits at least once a day.
To maximize effectiveness, join at least 15-20 safelists.

Traffic Exchanges
Traffic Exchanges are a great way to build traffic to your site as well as get exposure. They are equally effective for affiliate or website owners, but for owners the added traffic translates to page rankings. Consistently working traffic exchanges is essential to success.

WebRings
Webrings are an older, but still effective form of marketing. The idea behind it is to join a community of other sites and to inter-act with them. WebRing is a company that has organized this notion more than most, as you can see here:
Joining a WebRing is easy, free and is open to both site and non-site owners. It is one more way to optimize the "networking" part of marketing.
Article Marketing Resources
Article Marketing is an awesome way to get FREE exposure quickly and with little effort. If you can write an essay, you can write an article. But don't expect to get paid for these articles. OFFline publishers pay; online publishers exchange link exposure if they use your article. (They do this by including one link in the author's "By-line" area.)
Having used this type of marketing extensively, I have many articles available right here on this site. Another very useful tool is the Article Submission Links Page which lists over 100 sites to submit an article.
Articles should NOT be written in Word or WordPerfect, which adds in a great deal of unseen code. It is better to write in good ol' NotePad or WordPad, which allows you to control exactly what is included in your content.
And, when writing an article, be sure to gear it to whatever you are marketing-- and define the market where you are selling it. (Most article submission sites have categories-- be prepared!). Also, include an important key phrase in the Title, since this will be the primary search parameter for the article publisher.
WHO PUBLISHES THESE ARTICLES? Newsletter publishers, that's who. They are always on the look out for good content and there are, literally, thousands of newsletters out there, on virtually every subject imaginable. Writing an article is like getting a solo ad for free.
