Question What is the single, most important skill you need to succeed online? Answer: Writing. 85% of online marketing still relies on written communication.

Now all the proven writing techniques essential to online success have been put together in one ebook: Writing For The Internet

Many business people & online marketers start out with little idea of how much writing is involved in working online. From site / blog content to advertising copy to networking, much of the work includes writing.

Sure, there are alternatives -- buying content, hiring writers, there are even some programs that auto-generate content. But all of these have some disadvantage. Either they cost a LOT or the content itself is sub-par. Not to mention, it lacks that certain unique magic that draws traffic like a magnet!

All of which effects the viability, attractiveness and popularity of a site. And, of course, this directly effects the saleability, as well. Those magical conversions we hear about all the time.

And, to really make a site/blog/ad campaign run, it must have fresh, original content, preferably every day. Content that cannot be found anywhere else is always the best way to attract repeat visitors. This is the ideal. And, because of these somewhat conflicting factors (after all, that kind of fresh, daily content takes work, for goodness sakes), it is difficult even for the best of us to consistently stick to that ideal.

Plus, again, it's an established fact that writing on the internet is not the same as writing offline. Because of this, even experienced business writers stumble online. Understanding the impact of particular words is a fine art online; sculpting a message for its greatest impact; because writing online is the haiku of business writing.

And then, of course, there's always professionalism to be considered. If u haev evver hade to read some1s "hieroglyphics", you know what I mean. While short-hand is great in Instant Message chats, it has no place on professional sites-- that is, not if the owner wants to be taken seriously. Compare it to walking into a board room wearing your skater-dude outfit. And that is fine, if it's the board room of a skate board manufacturer. But if a site wants to appeal to a wider audience...

Oh, sure. Everyone understands. After all, we all make typos (wink, wink); because, of course, no one's perfect. But, at the same time, those same people sit up and notice a letter-perfect page, written in concise, grammatically correct, dynamic English, using words like sledge-hammers to drive the point home.

Speaking of English... Business writing is a special challenge for those who write English As a Second Language (EASL). English contains a multitude of nuances, syntacs and clauses that make the feat of writing good copy in the English language a daunting task for anyone writing it as a second language. And, while there are many, many fine sites in all the major languages of the world, English -- for better or worse -- still remains the major written language of the internet (besides HTML, Perl or PHP, anyway).

And that, by the way, is another example of incredibly ingenious people who often find it difficult to write excellent, dynamic copy: programmers. For many programmers, having spent years mastering a numerically-based language, writing in simple words becomes... well, less than simple. This is because words have a hierarchy all their own, an imperical structure and innuendo that stretches beyond the basic 21 consonants, five vowels, and 14 punctuation marks used to create the English language.

(Here's a quick quiz: WHY did I spell out the word "five" but use the numerical "21" and "14" in the previous paragraph? There's a specific rule in writing governing this-- do you know what it is?)

This is why I, Marige O'Brien (aka Tracker Mo), have again put fingertips to keyboard and come up with the quintessential guide to professional business and online writing. And I named it simply enough:

Tracker Mo,

Seldom does an e-book come along that’s even close to its hype. But your book,
Writing for the Internet, is the single exception that I’ve read in that you go straight to the point with an economy of words. You show with skill and insight how to craft your writing with a clear message to the target person (emails, safelists) or audience (web site) and how to avoid common mistakes in creating ads.

This book will help who ever buys it -- as it did me -- to successfully build my various online businesses.
