Article Submission Sites

Returning visitors will notice the list, below, has shrunk considerably during the recent update. While only a few of these sites went offline, many have changed, no longer complying to the strict standards needed for inclusion here.
Some converted to google-slave sites (i.e., all they do is list google ads for sites like this), some now charge for submission (!!) and still others have foresaken the role as an article resource, only publishing the articles on their own sites. Because this list is meant to help marketers broadcast their articles to as wide an audience as possible, it was necessary to remove them. The remaining sites offer free article submission and promote their site as an article resource.
However, many of the remaining sites now have much stricter guidelines for authors. This was an inevitable result of so many using software that professes to "auto-generate" articles, a foolish idea, pandering to the foolish among us. Original, good quality content will always be in demand.
Writing and submitting articles is labor-intensive. But, done properly, it will also reward the writer with thousands of back-links to their site.
For more information about writing and submitting articles successfully, please see "9 Tips To Successful Article Submission". Also, visit The Inner Sanctum to discuss article marketing today.
Also, these links lead directly to each site's submission page and/or login page. Therefore should a link appear to be broken cut back the URL, to the base link (i.e., http://sbinformation.about.com/ library/blsubmission.htm would be cut to http://sbinformation.about.com) and search from there. Oftentimes, sites re-organize their pages and the link changes.
Should that still fail, please report the broken link Here.

Article Submission Start-Up Notes
|
For those just starting out, here are a few pointers.
1. REGISTRATION
Invest a day or two simply registering at the submission sites. Each one will require your email address but few (if any) will spam you later. Plus, most will send a confirmation email. Trying to register and submit an article at the same time makes it go even slower.
2. YOUR BYLINE
Take a few minutes to write a basic byline. This is not a long bio-- it is usually limited to about 255 characters. Do not include more than two URLs/Links. My byline reads:
About The Author
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marige O'Brien actively works as a writer, web designer and internet marketer.
Visit her website, Tracker Mo's Den (http://www.trackermo.com), for her latest
recommended etools and articles.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notice that the URL is included. This is always a good idea, since it ensures that even if the article is printed offline (as they sometimes are), it will carry over. For those without their own website, get a blog. If nothing else, there are free blogs available right here at the The Inner Sanctum. Whatever you do, there's no excuse to promote an affiliate link directly anymore.
3. NOTEPAD ONLY
While many sites are trying to add Visual Basic to their features, do them and yourself a favor and learn to use NotePad (which is included in the Accessories portion of every PC ever made). Whatever you do, do not use Word for your writing! For one thing, Word adds all sorts of invisible (and un-removeable) characters to your work, making it impossible to simply copy/paste the content in. But, even worse, it will completely ruin your copy, forcing you to re-write the entire thing.
4. OFFLINE ORGANIZATION
It's also a good idea to create a folder in your "Favorites", bookmark each site and adjust the name in the folder to include your login info. This will speed up the submission process considerably.
5. SECURITY
Since these could be termed "low security" sites, it would also speed things up to use the same, unique userid, email address and password for all of them.

Press Release Submission
|
Press Releases (PRs) are one of the single best ways to promote a new product or unique special. The biggest advantage to a PR is almost immediate indexing in the search engines-- usually within days.
Success with a PR depends primarily on the novelty of the information. However, this information can be anything from "Joe Smith Wins Marketer Of The Year Award" to "Traffic Pro List Offers New Upgrade Special." There are all kinds of business & industry newspapers and online news sources that regularly look through the press releases for news.
There are free and pro press release programs, some optional, some costing quite a bit of money. For those that do include a fee, be sure they include information related to guaranteed placement of the PRs. Registration is required in all cases.
Guidelines for a PR including being within the limits allowed (usually about 400 words), and written using the same style as a news article (the PR for TMD2's re-launch is included, below, as an example). Even when writing about one's own site, use the 3rd person perspective and stick to the facts.
